I trained as an integrative counsellor at the Mary Ward Centre in London and work in private practice as well as at a well-known mental health charity in South London. I offer a safe and non-judgmental space in which you can explore whatever brings you to therapy to support you towards greater understanding, clarity, confidence and vitality in your life.
There can be a number of reasons for seeking therapy. For some of us, we may be experiencing a sense of crisis and ready to reach out for help. Perhaps the strategies that we’ve used to cope (distraction, avoidance, isolation, self-reliance, addictions etc) no longer work and we need to come into a more honest and direct relationship with our pain. For others of us, we may just feel a bit stuck in our lives- in our work, our relationships- and have a nagging sense that we could be living more purposefully, more fully and more in alignment with our true potential. Or maybe, we’ve already done some “inner work” and are looking to continue our journey of growth and personal transformation towards the person we sense beginning to emerge but are unsure of the next steps.
If any of these resonate, then you may be in the right place (!) but whatever your reason(s), I recognise that it takes courage to be willing to do this work and that it can feel frightening, confusing and vulnerable to be where you are. It can take some of us a long time to be ready to reach out for help and I acknowledge your bravery in considering taking this step.
I have personally benefitted from working with a number of different therapists over the years and at different times have found myself drawn to working with particular practitioners and come to trust my own intuition in terms of what I need. I remain deeply committed to my (ongoing) development as well as to cultivating a self-reflective and ethical counselling practice. I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework which includes regular clinical supervision with a more experienced colleague. Alongside personal therapy, I’ve explored (and continue to explore) other healing and self-development paths including 12 step groups, different styles of yoga, a regular meditation practice, men’s groups, various types of body work, indigenous wisdom traditions, training with Thomas Huebl to name a few and I incorporate many of these influences into my counselling practice.
As a result of my own experiences over the past decade or more, I have become passionate about this work and believe that everyone should be able to access it rather than it being the preserve of the privileged. For this reason, I offer several low-cost slots and would encourage you to contact me if money is a barrier to you accessing therapy and you feel drawn to work with me. In my pre-therapy life, I worked in education, the law and have also spent time living in Latin America and am fluent in Spanish.
